A ug 1 99 5 Approximation of excitonic absorption in disordered systems using a compositional component weighted CPA

چکیده
Employing a recently developed technique of component weighted two particle Green's functions in the CPA of a binary substitutional alloy A c B 1−c we extend the existing theory of excitons in such media using a contact potential model for the interaction between electrons and holes to an approximation which interpolates correctly between the limits of weak and strong disorder. With our approach we are also able to treat the case where the contact interaction between carriers varies between sites of different types, thus introducing further disorder into the system. Based on this approach we study numerically how the formation of exciton bound states changes as the strengths of the contact potentials associated with either of the two site types are varied through a large range of parameter values.

We extend the two particle theory of disordered systems within the coherent potential approximation CPA to obtain weighted contributions to averaged two particle resolvents which arise from separate alloy components. Starting from first principles in a model of diagonal disorder and the single site approximation for a binary substitutional alloy A c B 1−c we extend the approach of a fundamental...
متن کاملJa n 19 99 Coherent Potential Approximation for ‘ d - wave ’ Superconductivity in Disordered Systems
A Coherent Potential Approximation is developed for s–wave and d–wave superconductivity in disordered systems. We show that the CPA formalism reproduces the standard pair-breaking formula, the self-consistent Born Approximation and the self-consistent T -matrix approximation in the appropriate limits. We implement the theory and compute Tc for s–wave and d–wave pairing using an attractive neare...

We present a first-principles study of excitonic self-trapping in diamond. Our calculation provides evidence for self-trapping of the 1s core exciton and gives a coherent interpretation of recent experimental X-ray absorption and emission data. Self-trapping does not occur in the case of a single valence exciton. We predict, however, that self-trapping should occur in the case of a valence biex...
متن کاملContribution to the Theory of Frenkel Excitons in Disordered Molecular Crystals *
In this paper, we discuss the Frenkel excitons in disordered molecular crystals. Most of our results can be generalized to cover electrons and phonons in other disordered systems as well. In particular, the relationship among the exact Green's function, the CPA (coherent potential approximation) Green's function, and the method of moments is discussed. It is emphasized that, despite its complic...
متن کاملStructural and Optical Study of SnO Nanoparticles Synthesized Using Microwave–Assisted Hydrothermal Route
SnO nanoparticles were synthesized using microwave–assisted hydrothermal method. It was noticed that at 300 and 600 watt microwave power, SnO formed and remained in the tetragonal phase. At 900 watt, SnO2 started appearing and a mixture of SnO and SnO2 phases coexisted. The particle size varied from ~2 to ~13 nm at 300 to 900 watt radiation power. The UV-V absorption spectra showed the excitoni...
